Welcome back to another set of Quick Reviews. I’ve been doing so many Quick Reviews lately because I’m so behind on Kpop reviews. I’ll post some other material soon enough, but first, I’m going to check out some new music. The first artist is a new girl group that debuted earlier this year and have made a comeback with a Mixtape. The song is called “Broccoli” and we’ll see if these girls make me want to eat my greens or maybe it will be like CoCoSoRi and “Dark Circle”. Today I’ll only be reviewing two music videos and to finish it off, I’ll be checking out Mad Clown and Ailee’s song “Thirst”. It’s been a minute since we’ve seen Ailee, so I’m excited for this.
I have no words. “Broccoli” by Girlkind was phenomenal. Such a good parody on Trap music. From the style to the fashion to the video effects were sort of bashing on the stereotypical elements in Trap music videos. I love it because it’s obvious these girls weren’t being serious but wanted to poke fun at a genre that is up and coming in the world of Kpop. This song may or may not go onto my favorite songs of the year playlist.
Mad Clown and Ailee collaborate for a Gatorade commercial. Wait, is it really? I’m not sure but I assume so. The video had a girl hanging out with a bunch of boys and showing them up on sports because she had drank Gatorade. If it wasn’t a commercial for Gatorade then there was a ton of product placement in it. The beat comes in hard and never stops. Mad Clown has such a nice flow that is aggressive but knows when to pull back a little and then Ailee’s vocals are angelic. She literally is blessed with golden pipes.
What did you think? What video was your favorite? Thank you for all your support. Please support Ailee, Mad Clown and Girlkind for the work they put forward so you can be entertained. Thank you again and I’ll see you in my next review.
My Quick Reviews are conglomerates of music video reviews. For instance, if there are several releases in a single day that are all related or somewhat related, I will do a Quick Review segment.
