I don't know how to describe Beatburger's sound. It's hard, edgy and has a unique style that is very recognizable. It's gritty but not in the way that underground Hip Hop is. It's definitely experimental but not at the same time. All of these things describe the way that music video felt. The sounds were incredible and powerful while sounding dirty and hard at the same time.
Epik High never fails as they mix ballad and Hip Hop into an artistic masterpiece. I thought for sure at the beginning with the piano, it was going to be a straight ballad, but then that Hip Hop beat drops and everything changes. This reminded me of old Epik High. If you didn't know, I listened to Epik High around the time they debuted and listening to that old style Hip Hop was great. I feel like Epik High nailed it again. While their past couple releases were good, this felt like true Hip Hop. “Love Story” featured IU and IU is one of my favorite soloists. She added to the song in a good way rather than taking from the song like many of the Shoebox songs did.
The song starts off with a sort of exotic rhythm and then the vocals kick in to give it that poppy boy group vibe that is quite typical but not a bad thing. Once the chorus hits, you can't help but want to dance. The melody they used for the synth parts was brilliant. One of my favorite parts of the video was when a member drank the spiked drink and his drunkenness was visualized by pixelization. It was a smart and clever way to create a visualization of drunkenness.
I hope you enjoyed my reviews for today. It takes a lot of work, but I enjoy doing this so I will continue writing reviews until I lose my hands or I get tired of it. Please support all the artists I reviewed today as they all need it. If you liked my reviews, give them a thumbs up and share this on social media. Thank you for the support you've given me and I'll see you in my next review.
