I know I don’t talk a lot about K Hip Hop as its own genre. It definitely is its own genre which deserves more recognition. Today I’m here to review for you two new music videos from Basick. Basick is a K Hip Hop artist that I guess is just struggling to make ends meet.
The song was very Trap style. It lacked a lot of melodic variety but those beats were awesome, not to mention Basick’s flow. His style is lowkey and hard hitting. It sort of reminded me a little of Keith Ape’s “It G Ma” and the “Eung Freestyle”. It wasn’t as extreme as “It G Ma” but had a flow similar to “Eung Freestyle”. The video was essentially just Basick walking through the streets.
Basick’s second video, “Microphone Checker” is lit and goes in hard. This song as opposed to “The Kid” is more of a classic Hip Hop style than Trap. It also features Koonta, I’m guessing as the singer and Paloalto. There was a lot of visual effects going on throughout the video but I thought the coolest image was of Basick fenced in the fluorescent lights. It’s not that much but it looks really cool. Honestly, the way they filmed this entire video felt like it was shot in the early 2000s.
What did you think? Which song did you like better, the Trap style “The Kid”, or the classic Hip Hop collaboration “Microphone Checker”? Let me know in the comment section. Thank you for your support. Honestly, Basick should be getting more love than he is receiving so please, do me a favor and go support him as well. Thank you and I’ll see you in my next review.
My Quick Reviews are conglomerates of music video reviews. For instance, if there are several releases in a single day that are all related or somewhat related, I will do a Quick Review segment.
