I've never been a fan of Little Mix. In fact I can't stand them as a group. However, Yoo Hyeon of Dreamcatcher released a special clip of her singing “Secret Love Song” by the aforementioned group and I, first of all, gained a little more respect for Little Mix, but moreso fell deeper in love with Dreamcatcher. They are awesome! Today I have a few music video reviews I'm going to do because I hate it when YG releases two music videos in one day, let alone the fact that YG deleted the said videos I think twice before finally letting them be.
Jeon Jiyoon releases a live version of “Hello”. I don't know if this is an official song of hers. I kind of hope it is because the song itself was really funky and groovy. It had a nice bounce and flow to it. The video was just her singing it live in a long yellow T-shirt. The video format was vertical rather than horizontal, so I should have actually watched this on my phone but decided to watch it on my TV. I really enjoyed it and hope that there is an official release of the song at some point.
I love this song. Bobby's “I Love You”. But I'm not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed. Not because Bobby sounds bad or is a bad singer but because I was looking forward to thrashy, growly Bobby and we got vacation, tropical Bobby. The song sounded like a Winner song which I'm kind of happy about but at the same time I want old Bobby from back in the “Born Hater” days. The video was basically like every beach themed video where the singer is hanging out by the pool and running along the beach at sunset.
Bobby is fighting tragedy in “Runaway” which makes sense. In the video, we see him at an overpass with an empty road below. There are also various scenes where he's in a hospital. My guess is that someone close to him passed away after being involved in a car accident. It most likely happened when he was young because of the flashbacks to when he was a kid. Honestly, this video almost made me cry because at first I thought he was trying to run away from life, but it turns out he was running from a tragedy. Bobby's growls came out in this song and they were beautiful. The majority of the song was rapping which is what I expected originally when coming to check out Bobby's new music videos. I hope you guys love Bobby because I do.
Sunny from Girls' Generation and Henry from Super Junior-M join together for this week's SM Station “U&I”. I won't get into too much details about the video but I will say this. If these two got married, I'd completely 100% Stan them. The video played out as a concert performance where the two of them appeared on stage dressed in wedding attire. The song is cute and suits both of their voices really well. The mid tempo ballad plays with the maturity in Henry's sultry voice and the cuteness in Sunny's. It's a perfect song for them. I'm so glad they collaborated on this track.
This has been another set of Quick Reviews. Like I say every week, I'll try to keep up but this week may be hard with BTS coming out as well as ODD EYE CIRCLE and April. But I'll try. I can't promise anything. I hope you enjoyed each and every review I did. I take time out of my day to provide you with these reviews, so if you aren't enjoying them anymore, I'll stop, or tone it down by only reviewing a couple major releases. Please like and share this review on social media. Leave a comment of your thoughts on these various releases. Thank you for supporting me and I'll see you in the next one.
What is the one thing I'm very particular about? Does anybody know the answer to my question? Well, if I'm highly fond of girl groups, in all variations, it must mean that I'm quite particular about my boy groups. Today however, I'm bringing you a set of music video reviews that are only for boy groups. Of course, these are very talented and some of my favorite boy groups out there so that helps. B.A.P came back with a new music video as well as Exo and Day6. I'm excited to review these videos because I love each group I will be reviewing, so if you wish to continue, keep reading.
B.A.P is back with a less intense music video than their previous releases. “Honeymoon” is a calm, relaxed, tropical sounding, ethereal song that I'm assuming is about a honeymoon. Throughout the video, I kept getting these creepy vibes like there's something these boys are hiding. They are on a honeymoon but how come there are no females in the video. At one point, it appears that a member is burying something which I can only assume is a body. There were various symbols throughout like a computer, goldfish, and pills that may all be connected. Toward the end of the video, we see the members sitting at a white table drinking wine. I think it's meant to be a celebration of the end of things. I will say my favorite part of the entire song was when the rap and the whistle blended together in one final chorus. It reminded me of “I'll Be Your Man” by BTOB which is my favorite song of theirs to date.
Exo just released their repackaged version of The War. With a new album, comes a new music video. “Power” was a comic book related video in ties with their repackaged album. At first I thought the idea was really cool but the video didn't actually have anything happen in it. I hope they continue with this idea because “Power” felt like a set up for something greater. Essentially, they fought a giant robot with lasers and somehow beat it and gained super powers via the “dragon balls”. The song was a power dance track that was quite different from “KoKoBop”. Nothing in this song really stood out to me but I still loved it very much.
Here I am admitting I'm confused because as much as I love Day6, each of their videos gets more and more confusing. “I Loved You”, as I expected, is a slow ballad track that carries a great emotion throughout the song. The video seems to pick up where the last one left off being about a love triangle. I don't know if this is correct. I just read a comment on the previous Day6 video about it, but Won Pil is gay and likes Sungjin. I'm still trying to reconnect all the dots in my head about these past few videos. I will say this, the girl that Sungjin is with is beautiful. I don't know if I can expand any more than I already have without confusing the hell out of myself.
Well, there are 3 music videos from only boy groups, reviewed by me. At first I was very skeptical about boy groups but I am slowing coming to realize they are extremely talented and while girl groups don't deserve to be cast out and overlooked, boy groups don't deserve that treatment either. I hope you enjoyed my reviews for this session of Quick Reviews. Be sure to support each of these artists and like and share this Quick Reviews blog on social media. Leave a comment on which video was your favorite. My personal favorite was Day6 because they never fail to impress me. If you didn't know, I don't have a bias in B.A.P, my bias is D.O in Exo and Won Pil in Day6. Thank you for supporting me and I'll see you in the next one.
My Quick Reviews are conglomerates of music video reviews. For instance, if there are several releases in a single day that are all related or somewhat related, I will do a Quick Review segment.
