Quick Reviews: VAV, Golden Child, & Penomeco

Again, I've been so far behind because of the rapid pace that Kpop takes when there is a mass comeback. Today I'm trying to make up the amount of comebacks I've missed. I want to review Gugudan, but I need to review some of these boy groups as well.

In the music video for “Spotlight” by VAV, they were dancing in a museum. But more than the museum, there were a ton of cool effects used for this video. One post production effect was the static on the screen. This is a commonly used effect in videos but it's still cool when done right and not over used. Another cool effect was during the chorus when they were dancing on the white platform in the darkness. The lighting created shadows, but the angle of the lighting changed every beat which created this cool movement within the video. As for the song, it was synthy and had an EDM beat to it. The chorus was really catchy and kept me entertained.

A couple things about Golden Child. I never listened to their debut because I was busy at the time. I don't know how to feel about them but “It's U” was a decent song, it was just a little too cutesy for me. Everything about this song and video reminds me of Lovelyz which is fine because they are the same company but Woollim needs to diversify a little. I'm not giving up on Golden Child yet but I'm just not quite sold on them yet. The video featured the members at a school trying everything they could to crack their ability to use telekinesis or the ability to move objects with your mind.

Throughout the music video for “L.I.E” by Penomeco, we see Penomeco and a girl right next to each other in various scenarios but never noticing each other. I think the message being conveyed here is sometimes love is where you least expect it. There were a series of doors and hallways throughout as well with a cool opaque color palette. I really dug the way the video looked. The song had a pretty classic Zico vibe to it, but it was a mesh of EDM and Hip Hop which sounds nice. Penomeco's flow is amazing by the way. I don't think I've ever mentioned that. I'm still not sure why this song was put under SM, but I guess it doesn't matter.

Well I hope you enjoyed my set of music video reviews for you today. Be sure to follow each of these amazing artists. Support them and give them your love. Thank you for the support you give me. My Quick Reviews are conglomerates of music video reviews.  For instance, if there are several releases in a single day that are all related or somewhat related, I will do a Quick Review segment.
