Top 10 Female Songs of 2015

12/30/2015

Comments

This is my list of my top 10 favorite Female k-pop songs of 2015.  Everyone else is doing it so I figured I might as well do it too.  This list is my personal opinion, so don't get all bent out of shape if your favorites don't make it onto the list.  Starting with number 10.

10. The Ark - The Light
I think it's safe to say that this girl group took the k-pop world by surprise when they released their debut song, The Light.  It wasn't that this song was bad, it's that it was too good.  This song had a sad theme and wasn't all cutesy like most debut girl groups do.  That's why this song gets number 10 on my list.

9. EXID - Ah Yeah
EXID have proved themselves time and time again and this release is no different.  LE is a badass and everyone knows it.  I love this song because of the angel/devil motif that's placed in the verses of the song.

8. Crayon Pop - FM
I had no idea who Crayon Pop was at the beginning of the year, but after this power ranger/sailor moon/halo/whatever else themed music video, I've been hooked.  I looked up all their previous works and fell in love instantly, making them one of my favorite groups.

7. 4Minute - Crazy
4Minute is one of those groups that have been pretty much on top for a while now and this song just tops everything they've done in the past except for maybe Volume Up.  This song is hardhitting and drops the beat so hard.  The dance is relatively easy, but is somehow addicting.

6. Girls' Generation - You Think
While the hype for this comeback lasted for a long time, it's pretty much died down now, but this song is still played daily on my playlist.  This song has that sexy concept going for it, but at the same time isn't too far off from the stylistic choices made on Lion Heart.  I love this song.

5. Nine Muses - Hurt Locker/Sleepless Night
Both of these songs, while opposite in style and sound, are excellent examples of what Nine Muses are capable of doing.  Hurt Locker has the fast paced electronic sound while Sleepless Night has the more ambient and calming sound.  Both are great songs and I couldn't decide between the two.

4 - f(x) - 4 Walls
While this isn't my choice of song I would have used as their title song, I can still appreciate 4 Walls by f(x).  Stylistically, they've changed and grown up a lot.  However, they've still kept the f(x) sound going in most of the songs on this album.  This album is easily one of my favorites of the year as well.

3. Twice - Like Ooh Ahh
This is another group that shocked everyone with their debut.  Eugene from the Try Guys mentioned something about k-pop that makes it a good music video.  Those three things are Crazy, Cute, and Cool and this music video has all of those things.  It's almost too cutesy, but sexy, but crazy all at the same time.  It's sort of ridiculous, but that's why Twice earned my number 3 spot.

2. Oh My Girl - Closer/Lovelyz - For You
Here's another one I couldn't decide between.  Oh My Girl is a great girl group that has debuted earlier this year and has been nailing it.  Their song Closer is a huge hit and has a hauntingly beautiful chorus that hooks you.  On the other hand, Lovelyz have become one of my favorite girl groups this year with Hi~, Shooting Star, Ah Choo and now For You.  All have been great and while they seem like a typical girl group, don't take them for granted.  They are a bit crazy and have an attractive electronic sound to their music.

1. Red Velvet - Dumb Dumb
Anyone who couldn't have guessed this one, doesn't know me very well.  Red Velvet, in my opinion, nailed it right on the head with this one.  Not to mention their earlier release this year Ice Cream Cake.  Dumb Dumb has a catchiness to it however that just keeps you wanting to listen to it over and over again.  It's sexy while cute and it's crazy while cool.  It has all the good things about a k-pop video.  Irene, Wendy, Seulgi, Joy, and Yeri all deserve this win on my list.  They are a fast growing group only debuting last year and reaching this high of a level in popularity is great and awesome for them.

Thanks you for reading this and I hope you enjoyed my top 10 female songs of 2015.  I'll be back soon with a top 10 male songs of 2015.  See ya soon.
