Here we are again with another top 10 of 2015. 2015 has been over for a few days now, but I still want to recap the amazing things that happened in 2015 in accordance with k-pop. Today I'm going to countdown my favorite top 10 albums of 2015. These are extremely biased and I tried to add in some more male artists because I'm extremely female biased. This list is my personal opinions so please don't get offended when your favorite album(s) don't make it onto my list.
10. Goo Hara - Alohara
Goo Hara is too cute! She made her solo debut this year and while it didn't seem to amaze everyone, this album blew me away. I found myself listening to it over and over when I least expected it. This was my third or fourth purchase of anything k-pop ever. That's how good I found this album.
My favorite songs: How About Me?, Choco Chip Cookies, Haragu
9. Lovelyz - Lovelyz8
Lovelyz are an 8 member girl group that debuted in 2014 but have stolen my heart. Everything they've done up to this point, including Lovelinus, is pure gold. However, Lovelyz8 is my favorite album by them because it's so cutesy experimental. If that makes any sense. They play with a bunch of different electronic sounds while still holding onto the cutesy image.
My favorite songs: Welcome to the Lovelyz8, Shooting Star, Rapunzel
8. Kim Sung Kyu - 27
Kim Sung Kyu was someone I got into way before I got into Infinite. And even now, I'm not very much into Infinite. However, 27 by Kim Sung Kyu is a masterpiece. I didn't like his first solo album, but this one was perfect. Every single song on this album was just absolutely amazing.
My favorite songs: Kontrol, The Answer, Alive
7. SHINee - Married to the Music
I couldn't make it through this list without mentioning SHINee. I'm not officially a Shawol, but I try to consider myself one. This album has a funk to it that is just amazing. The reason I picked Married to the Music over View is because of the song Married to the Music. It's fantastic and just overall has a good vibe to it.
My favorite songs: Married to the Music, Love Sick, View, Odd Eye
6. BTS - The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Part 1
BTS is one of those groups that took me by surprise this year. They came out with I Need U and stole my heart, especially Suga and Rap Mon. This album is better than part 2, in my opinion because it is overall a better album. There are songs I like better on part 2 like Run and House of Cards but overall this album feels better as an overall album. They had more time to prepare for this album than part 2 so I feel like this album takes the win for BTS, but hey, at least BTS made the list.
My favorite songs: Intro, I Need U, Dope, Move, Converse High, Outro
5. Girls' Generation - Lion Heart
Now what kind of SONE would I be if I left SNSD off the list? While it's not the best release they've ever had, it's still a good one. This is high on my list of favorite SNSD albums ever, but still not number 1. This is their first album without Jessica and they seem to be doing alright considering how well done this album is. And can I just mention Taeyeon's blonde hair throughout all of the promotions!
My favorite songs: Lion Heart, You Think, Party, Check, Fire Alarm, Talk Talk, Bump It
4. BigBang - M.A.D.E
Now I know that BigBang's full release is yet to be unveiled, but I figured they worked really hard this year and deserve a spot on my list. MADE is a work of art that has been the biggest promotion in k-pop history. They released a music video for every song they released except for If You. Each song had its power behind each and every one. This made for the summer/year of BigBang.
My favorite songs: Loser, Bae Bae, Bang Bang Bang, Sober, Let's Not Fall in Love
3. f(x) - 4 Walls
Did I need to even say anything about this album? This album is phenomenal and like SNSD, it shows that the group can function without Sulli, the fifth member. The album plays with some effects that make it have a classic sound, much like the 70s, 80s, and 90s. This album is definitely one of my favorites of the year.
My favorite songs: 4 Walls, X, Papi, Rude Love, Cash Me Out, When I'm Alone
2. Taeyeon - I
2015 was one busy year for Taeyeon what with the Catch Me if You Can promotions; Party, Lion Heart and You Think promotions; Channel SNSD; Lion Heart album promotions; TaeTiSeo promotions for Dear Santa and Winter Story; Taengoo09 or whatever her variety show was called; and let's not forget her I promotions. I is a very emotional album that says a lot about Taeyeon, a lot that we may have thought we knew before, but didn't actually know. She revealed so much about herself in this promotion. She deserves the number 2 spot on my list. If it wouldn't have been a mini album, it would have earned the number 1 spot. But just the fact that Taeyeon is coming back soon is enough for me.
1. Red Velvet - The Red
Once again, if you didn't know this, you should have looked up at the top banner of my website. The Red is a phenomenal album that I could go on for hours about. This girl group from SM Entertainment that debuted just last year is breaking the charts and stealing my heart. There's nothing I don't like about this album. It's just perfect. And while I'm not looking forward to their next album The Velvet as much, it will still be exciting to hear from these girls again. Team Irene.
Hope you enjoyed that list for the best albums of 2015, in my opinion. I had fun comprising it and can't wait to publish my next list. Wait and see what it is. Thanks for reading my blog again. Did you agree with this list? Please put your top 10 albums of 2015 in the comments section.
