I don't understand the chorus line. It doesn't make a ton of sense to me as a native English speaker, however the song was very powerful and peaceful. I would describe the atmosphere of the song to be a compelling anthem ballad. It had the typical ballad elements such as piano and thought out vocals, but the vibe of the song sounded like a song of encouragement or anthem. Subin's voice is incredible and honestly, this might become one of my favorite songs of the year because of how well the vocal and piano meshed together without having one overlap or overtake the other.
The song reminded me of a mix of Lim Kim and Lorde, except better than both of them. Subin's voice sounds a lot better. It may be the overuse of auto-tune in this song or the ridiculous amount of overlapping and dubbing of vocals, but her voice sounded phenomenal. Also the backing track was really stripped down. It was just a guitar and some light percussion instruments. With a backing track that is that limited, her voice is going to sound amazing. It's like when Taeyeon sang “11:11” live, her voice sounded enormous.
Well, this has been my review of “Strawberry” and “Circle's Dream” by Subin. I'm definitely going to check out this album and if it's anything like I've heard, it may surpass Suzy's debut album Yes No Maybe? Thank you for all the support.
