Oh My Girl - Liar Liar: music video review

Oh My Girl is back with their newest music video “Liar Liar”! Oh My Girl has dominated the charts with each song they released and they totally rocked the charts to pieces with their last comeback “Closer”. “Closer” was a more serious, fantasy-based music video, so I wonder how “Liar Liar” will differ. Obviously, if you've seen the teasers it is a cutesy video, but how much of the cutesy is actually there
The music video screams cute! Everything about it is cute from the colors to the outfits and everything in between. The concept of the video seemed to be hiding your feelings about someone you like. All the girls had photo cards of boys they liked and they were hiding the pictures in various ways throughout the video. They all looked really cute and honestly, Oh My Girl is becoming one of my favorite girl groups that debuted recently. Up there, of course, with Lovelyz.

The song, however, isn't necessarily cute. The sounds and the way the girls sing is definitely cute, but the instrumentation throughout the song is actually quite normal, almost EDM-ish. I think this is the reason I like Oh My Girl so much is that their songs' instrumentation isn't necessarily fitting with the emotion of the song. It's an interesting take on creating music and conveying a certain emotion through the music. Such as with “Cupid”, the song was cute, but the instrumentation was a marching band which isn't cute, but the way it was done conveyed the feeling of one's heart pounding like drums.
