Most of you probably already know this but Luna of f(x), Hani of EXID and Solar of Mamamoo made a collaboration together with a song called “Honey Bee”. It's interesting to see how much different companies are willing to work with each other lately. I don't know what set off this spark but I like it. We have SM, Banana Culture and Rainbow Bridge or whatever the hell Mamamoo is on working together in a collaboration project.
First thing I'm going to point out is that each girl seems to be wearing outfits that would go with their group's style. Hani is wearing those leather pants that appear in “Up & Down” while Solar is sporting the kind of outfit that appeared in “Um Oh Ah Yeh”. Luna wore overalls on top of a belly shirt type of thing which seems like f(x). The music video was filmed in a bowling alley which I thought was an interesting choice. For the chorus they are dancing in the lanes with a jazz band appearing in the projector screens behind them. I loved the video but I will say, shaky cam or bad camera work will ruin a video for me and while it wasn't the worst I've seen, there were still some parts especially transitioning between parts in the verses where the camera got a bit unsteady. Other than that though, the video was very creative. I enjoyed it.
Now for the song. Oh my hell that song was jazzy as shit! The entire beat of the song was trumpets and other jazzy instruments. Also, I will point out that this beat wasn't too annoying like several have been in the past. Mystic Entertainment knows how to produce a good sounding song with a nice hook that won't get on people's nerves. Now I know I should talk about how all the girls sounded amazing and such, but for a moment I'd like to appreciate Luna. I know all the girls are very talented vocalists, but I still stand by my statement that Luna is one of the best vocalists in k-pop. There's no argument, just listen to her. Now with that said, Solar sounded amazing and I love her style. Mamamoo is notorious for that Jazzy sound, so this song was probably a piece of cake for her. Hani on the other hand, is not used to this style of music and probably isn't used to being in the vocal line for a song. She doesn't have the strongest vocals, but her voice gave this song a nice balance of jazzy, funk with the more soothing sounds of her voice.
I know I've been rambling on with this review. Actually this is what I want to do more. I want to give more in depth reviews about the songs and videos since I can't film myself reacting to it since I still don't have a tripod nor a decent camera. But I hope you guys like my reviews and will keep checking them out. I appreciate you guys 100% and I hope you guys will continue to follow my reviews and blog in the future. Give me a like and comment your thoughts about this song and songs you'd like me to review in the future. Share this on social media and I'll see ya in the next one.
