The moment is finally here for all you Loonatics! (Including myself). LOOΠΔ yyxy has finally debuted with their song “love4eva” featuring Grimes. Grimes, for those of you who didn’t know, is a well-known Dream Pop artist from Canada. Dream Pop has seemed to be BlockBerry Creative’s go-to genre as they had a couple of other songs have the same sound.
You have no idea how excited I am for this debut. LOOΠΔ is becoming one of my favorite groups and BlockBerry Creative is already my favorite company just because of how intuitive the promotions they are making for LOOΠΔ. At the moment, my biases in each subunit is Ha Seul for LOOΠΔ 1/3, Jin Soul for Odd Eye Circle, and Olivia Hye for yyxy.
The music video for “love4eva” had an interesting message to it. It seemed that the four girls were in a strict training of some sort. Throughout the video, we see Yves, Chuu, and Go Won leaving and sneaking away but Olivia Hye refused to join them. Maybe this video is being likened to God and his rules. We see the lady as God and watching them, but applying strict discipline. All of the girls had rejected Eden or denied God. All of them except for Olivia Hye, who rejected Yves and despised her.
The video took place in Budapest, Hungary and the architecture and vibe of the video felt very Hungarian. They were, of course, wearing white shirts with skirts that were yellow for most of the video but also changed after the girls left. At the end of the video, we see the four girls performing for “God” and God is pleased, but in actuality, it was only Olivia Hye performing for God.
What was interesting about this song is that the songwriter for “Gee” by Girls’ Generation also helped in writing this song and therefore, the introduction sounded like “Gee” but with Grimes introducing LOOΠΔ yyxy. It also sounded a lot like JYP’s introduction of “Very Very Very” by I.O.I.
The overall vibe of the song was very upbeat Dream Pop. It definitely was produced by Grimes but also blended nicely all the various sounds that are yyxy. All the girls had this upbeat sound to their songs and then Olivia’s song was very sinister which was present in this song. The overall atmosphere of the song was poppy but there was still a sinister sense in it.
Another thing I love about this unit is the fact that all their voices stand out really well. I could tell without even looking who was singing when because of how unique all their voices are. I think this will be a huge benefit for them with this release and to help them stand out in the full LOOΠΔ debut.
What did you think of LOOΠΔ yyxy’s debut? Who is your bias in the group? I still think my bias is Olivia, but that can change. Thank you so much for your support. I promise I’ll try to bring you more updated content as soon as I can. Even today was a bit hectic. Thanks again. I’ll see you in my next review.
In this section of my website, I will review Kpop music videos, albums, songs, and various other things pertaining to Kpop. This will be the main stage of my website. It is where the majority of the action will take place.
