Lee Hi of YG Entertainment has officially comeback! She released two new music videos earlier today entitled Breathe and Hold My Hand. I love Lee Hi and her amazing voice, so I'm glad she's made a comeback. I can't wait to listen to her whole album, but for the time being let's watch the music videos. First up is Breathe.
The music video for Breathe was phenomenal. Everyone says SM is doing amazing scenery with their videos, but YG just stepped up the game with this beautiful city-scape of what I'm assuming is Seoul. In the video, Lee Hi is singing from a rooftop while the camera pans around her to show off the beautiful skyline and the sun setting in the distance. The video is amazing and not only the rooftop shots, but also the night scenes and the rainy windows that make an appearance towards the end of the video.
The song was a ballad-type with so much emotion conveyed in it. Lee Hi seems like she's definitely grown up and she proves it again and again with her low notes in the verses and her high, powerful hits in the choruses. Lee Hi looks stunning as always with her black wavy hair blowing in the wind. I swear if this song isn't in a drama in the next six months, I'm going to throw a fit. This song is what dramas crave and everything about it just screams drama-sad-scene.
Next up we have Hold My Hand. The music video was fun and creative. The first ¾ of the video is in an aspect ratio of 1x1. The extra side area is filled with 8-bit animations that look like they are straight from an NES game. The video is filled with several interactions between the real world and the 8-bit world, such as the moon, the hearts, etc. The last ¼ of the video the screen opens up from 1x1 aspect ratio to a full screen. The video seems to be from the point-of-view of a girl that wants a guy to notice her, or hold her hand, but the video seems to be going in sequence of a day. So, “A Day in the Life of a Girl who Wants a Guy” type of video. It was cute and quite entertaining.
The song was also cute, but not as cute as you would think. Lee Hi's voice is powerful and doesn't let up even for a second of the song. Her tiny figure puts out a voice like that which is beyond my understanding. She seems to be reiterating over and over that she wants “him” to hold her hand and fall in love again and again and again. Overall, this song is really catchy and I can't wait to hear what else she has in store for us on her album.
