Jessi from Lucky J has released a new music video for her song entitled “Excessive Love”. I think this is ironic considering that Lucky J released the song “No Love”. So they went from from no love to too much love in a couple of short months. Interesting. However, I don't actually know a lot about Jessi. I know she's part of Lucky J and I think she was involved in Unpretty Rapstar, maybe? I did notice that Jessi came out with her video for No Love and then a month or two later, 4Minute comes out with their video for “Hate” where Hyuna looks like she did, which is strangely similar to Jessi in “No Love”. Anyway that's not why we're here. That music video struck me hard. The video was in two separate filter lenses. The first one was a blue filter lens that gave the appearance of night and sadness. Many of these scenes were the ones where Jessi sang and would stare off in the distance. The other filter was a black and white lens, however, it would be disrupted by certain colors, like fire and the rose. This portion of the video had more of a story element behind it. It seemed Jessi found the rose on fire, which could represent her being burned. At the end of the video, there were objects that fell and were on fire, including a teddy bear, which could imply that her past is destroyed. The video was very beautiful and well shot. The song was really powerful as well. It was a hip hop power ballad in which Jessi sung the entire thing. She didn't rap at all in this song which isn't what I expected to hear. She's usually known for her rapping ability and to present a new song with no rapping whatsoever shows that she is a versatile artist and can work in various elements. I loved this song, so much more than “No Love”. This song had emotion and it poured out throughout the entire song whereas “No Love” felt more emotionless with more focus on the rapping ability. This song is definitely going on my playlist. That was my review of “Excessive Love” by Jessi. What did you guys think about the music video/song? Did you like it? What is your interpretation of the video? I would definitely like to know what your thoughts are. Please like, comment and share this post throughout all your social media.
