And I guess that makes sense with the style of song they were going for. Exo were venturing into the Reggaton style of music. The question I have for all of the K-pop industry is, when will EDM influenced music stop taking over K-pop? I'm not against EDM, it's just there is so much room for great powerful vocals in the choruses, but instead, you need to build us up musically to a huge drop and drops typically don't have room for vocals. I wish instead of focusing so much on being American top 40 music in the EDM category, create your own unique sound. I think that's what makes BTS, Blackpink, and Twice so successful is that they don't rely on a certain style or classification of music to define them. Yes, BTS is hip hop, Blackpink is badass and Twice is cutesy but they've made their genre their own. End rant.
I hope you enjoyed my review of “Ko Ko Bop” by Exo. I look forward to listening to the rest of the album and think it would be interesting if they stayed with this style for the entirety of the album. Please support Exo. Like and share this review and comment any thoughts you have. Thank you so much for supporting me and I'll see you in the next one.
