Day6 is back with a new release “You Were Beautiful” as part of their monthly release format they seem to be undertaking. Day6's last music video was good, so I'm going to check out this new one to see if it is any good.
Before I say anything else, I have to say that both the song and music video for “You Were Beautiful” were beautiful. Sounds redundant right? Honestly though, the music video showed a girl working late and stumbling upon old videos of her and a lover. She laughs through all of them and then she starts to cry. It is revealed towards the end of the video that she ended things with the guy and at this point in her life, she misses him and regrets her decision. Like many “looking back” videos, this one used various filters to portray the concept of looking back. There were blur effects, light flares and monochromatic filters used throughout the video. Like I said, these are overused but they are used for a reason; they are effective.
Now on to the song. “You Were Beautiful” is what I would describe as a slow tempo, rock ballad with powerfully emotional vocals and simple, clean, but influential instrumentation. Honestly, I don't know how these guys do it every time but I'm starting to stan them because of how much their music improves with each release. I'm not a JYP stan but I love Twice, Miss A, Wonder Girls, Got7, and I'm starting to get into Day6. These guys are so good.
Well anyway, this has been my review of “You Were Beautiful” and I hope you guys enjoyed it. Please show some love and give me a like and share this post on social media. If you would like for me to review a certain video in the future, please leave suggestions below. Thank you all for supporting me and showing me so much love. I appreciate all of it. I'll see ya in the next one.
