Day6 is one of those groups I know very little about. I know that they debuted last year. I know that it's a boy group. I know that their debut song was “Congratulations”, I think? However, even though I know next to nothing about this group, I still like them. I enjoyed their debut song and hope that this comeback song will live up to the hype given. In fact, I hope that their comeback song “Letting Go” will be better than the first.
The music video was a bit trippy and I about lost it when all those guitars were smashed to pieces. The video had multiple of them in it playing at the same time. At one point, there were like 7 full Day6 bands on screen at one time and it kind of reminded me of Orange Caramel's music video for “My Copycat” when there's a bunch of small versions of themselves dancing next to normal size versions of themselves. Either way the video was a bit weird, but worked.
The song was impressive. It was a mid tempo ballad that showed off all of their abilities and I feel like that's where it lost its edge. The fact that you have a rapper in your group doesn't mean he has to rap in every song, especially a song like this. And especially since you're a band, and not just a boy group. I feel like the rapper took away from the emotion and drive of the song and it just seemed abrupt and forced. It was definitely not needed and should've been left out.
That's my review of Day6's new video for “Letting Go”. What did you think of the video? Did you enjoy it? Did you like this song better or worse than “Congratulations”?
