Honestly, I’ve been so busy and distracted that I didn't see this release coming. I mean, I knew that BTS was scheduled to comeback but I didn’t realize it was this soon. “Idol” is their comeback this time and I just checked that in 13 hours, they’ve already achieved 35 million views on the video. Now that’s impressive. Now I have to lay down more money to the Kpop industry.
I’m not sure what I just watched but it wasn’t the BTS that has been growing in popularity recently. It was like they reinvented themselves for this comeback which is good but also can be a bad thing. There was nothing really cinematic for this video which is the route they usually take. This video is just filled with a bunch of random junk that I’m sure has deeper meaning. Upon initial viewing, it seems like a bunch of images that were cropped or plastered onto the backdrop of the video. They were dancing in front of a green screen and everything was done in post-production.
With that being said, the song also has some interesting changes from their typical sound. Recently there sound has been Poppy but almost epic while still containing that hype level. This song was completely hype and lost a lot of the epic factor, although it still had some. For me, I might have to go back and listen to it a few more times before it grows on me because with that first listen, it feels overwhelming and underwhelming all at the same time.
What are your thoughts on “Idol” by BTS? I honestly want to know what you thought of the video and the song. Is this BTS’ best song? Is it their worst song? What do you think makes it the best or worst BTS song? Thank you for supporting me. I’ll see you in the next review.
In this section of my website, I will review Kpop music videos, albums, songs, and various other things pertaining to Kpop. This will be the main stage of my website. It is where the majority of the action will take place.
