Does anyone know who BTOB is? They are a phenomenal group that is sometimes overlooked because of certain releases on the day they comeback. Sometimes SHINee's Taemin has a comeback on the same day and poor BTOB gets overshadowed by the popularity of someone from one of the Big 3. Well Taemin can wait because today we are looking at “Missing You” by BTOB. From the name of the album, it sounds like it could very well be a continuation from “I'll Be Your Man” which was my favorite song from BTOB thus far. The album is called Brother Act and to me, that doesn't sound like an album for a song like “Movie” although we all loved “Movie”. It sounds more like a heroic, dramatic album title. I could very well be wrong though.
I was wrong. In fact, I don't say this much about K-pop music videos but that was pretty lame. I was expecting something so much bigger and the video was kind of a letdown. The cinematography was great and the song was excellent, but the music video was basically the members just moping around about missing someone. At least with “Loser” by Big Bang, there were reasons behind them being losers. This video was literally just them going about their normal lives and crying about the girl. Lame.
I will say though, the song was incredibly beautiful. It was softer than I was hoping for. I was hoping for a bop but we got a ballad instead. That's not a bad thing though. The song was very soothing and almost had an Indie K-pop style to it. The raps were chill, everything about this song was relaxed. My favorite part of the song was right at the second to last chorus, the instruments cut out and then there is a sudden key change for the final chorus. It's a perfect and slightly cliché way to end a ballad, but there's a reason why. What I'm wondering is, don't they already have a song called “I Miss You”? Isn't saying “missing you” the same as saying “I miss you”? Maybe I'm wrong. I've been wrong before.
Well anyway, even if this song wasn't your cup of tea, please support BTOB. Stream their music online. Buy the album. Do whatever you need to do to feel like you've shown them support. While you're at it, you can send some of your love my way. If you liked this review, let me know in the comments. Thank you as always for supporting me and I'll see you in my next review.
