The Brown Eyed Girls are the Korean girl group that introduced the world to the well-known dance in “Gangnam Style” with their song “Abracadabra”. They became highly popular in the latter half of the 2000s decade. They are managed by Mystic Entertainment and their most prominent members are Ga-in and Miryo. Just recently, B.E.G. released a new music video for their comeback. This video is entitled “Brave New World”. I’m unsure of the concept because I have not been paying much attention to B.E.G. However, this is a new comeback that I’ve been procrastinating watching. I have heard both ends of the spectrum as far as this song is concerned. I’ve heard that it is both good and terrible. So, I guess we’ll just have to see.
Okay, so the thumbnail is them in a car with the typical front shot from the front of the car. I accidently pressed play before I was ready and the paused screen shows a girl up close, walking away and another girl, farther away, also walking away from the camera.
Okay, so I’ve watched the video now and I have to say this is some of the weirdest stuff I’ve ever seen. At the beginning, the group is plugged into an apple and listening to something. There’s two things I could see this representing. It could either be a representation of Apple, the company, or it could be a throwback to Ga-in’s solo album “Hawwah” and the song “Apple”. Either way, this song isn’t very catchy. It’s sort of a mix between 80s, trance music, and blues. They were really trying to push the envelope here and they did that, but unfortunately, it didn’t turn out very well. I like the artistic creativity of the music video, but I just can’t decipher any sort of hidden messages in it. Aside from the apple, there’s nothing unique about this music video. It is basically just a dance video with special filters and effects over it and filmed in different locations. The beginning of the music video is literally just a copy of “Red Light” by f(x) with them dancing in a room with lights from a projector shining on them. I’m rather disappointed with this song, but I’m not a big fan of B.E.G. so I didn’t expect much anyway, but I tried to go into this with an open mind.
That is my music video review for the Brown Eyed Girls’ music video for “Brave New World”. I wasn’t a huge fan of it, but what did you guys think of it?
