Amber is back! Amber of f(x) has officially made her solo comeback with her song “Borders”. This song was said to be personal to Amber and she spent the last 2 years writing and arranging it to perfection. Amber made her solo debut last year and wowed us all with a beautiful album. I think the most stunning song from that album was “Beautiful”, a song about herself and seeing herself as something beautiful and not weird or alone.
I got chills while watching that music video! The concept seemed to be depression seeing as there was a girl in the video who was tearing at the walls in her room. She pulled out a bottle in the end of the music video but then let the pills spill onto the floor. The artistry and imagery in this video was incredible and I hate to say it but SM has definitely stepped up their game as far as music videos go. With this video, Taeyeon's “I”, f(x)'s “4 Walls”, etc.
The song was all in English which is what we expected from Amber. If anyone is going to be successful as an English k-pop idol, it's Amber. However, I felt like some of her rap parts were a bit awkward. Not too bad, but at times I felt myself cringe a little on the inside. However, I loved the song. I cannot not love Amber. She's truly an inspiration. The song was about keeping yourself strong and facing the challenges you come across. I really enjoyed that she sang the chorus part because she could have easily went with a rap style throughout the entire song, but I'm glad she sang.
There's my review of Amber's “Borders”. What did you think of the song and video? Which song do you think was more inspirational, “Borders” or “Beautiful”? Thanks for supporting me.
