The Queen is back! Ailee returns with her comeback song “Home” that I'm expecting will blow me away. Ailee is a vocal idol amongst k-poppers and even some non k-poppers. Her voice is incredible and unbelievable. Her previous comeback album VIVID still haunts my dreams with her delicately beautiful voice. Well, I'm excited to find out if this album/song/music video will blow me away more than her last material.
Ailee smashed apart a bunch of statue heads in this music video. The music video reminded me of “Excessive Love” by Jessi. There was even a rose burning, but that doesn't take away from this music video. Ailee was putting a friend to rest in the beginning of the video and then destroys everything in the room in her frustration.
The song was incredible as expected, but also seemed to feature some trap influences which I thought was a unique spin on Ailee's otherwise traditional pop sound. However, it wasn't heavy trap influence, it was just there in the background of the verses and then seemed to settle down during the chorus and pre-chorus. The song at this point, took on a more light EDM feel. I was incredibly impressed with this song and Ailee's ability to wow me again. Her vocal range in this song seemed a lot higher than in previous songs. Also Yoon Mi Rae's rap was on point and her vocal tone and rapping style fit the song really well.
