There is definite SPOILERS in this post, however, since it's so new and this is the first episode, I wouldn't worry too much. Unless you want to watch it first, there's no need to worry. Descendants of the Sun is the first k-drama of its kind. This drama was filmed in full prior to being aired. Most dramas film two or three episodes before airing and therefore can undergo the scrutiny of the public and netizens. The fact that they are doing this and the success of this drama could determine the fate of k-dramas in the future. It seems that Descendants of the Sun had a good viewership and is continuing to receive that good viewership. The first episode has been out for about 24 hours and the second episode has aired. The first episode plays on some much needed action in dramas and comedy as well. The episode starts out with a group of Korean soldiers outside the DMZ. Two soldiers walk into the DMZ without any armor or guns, just knives. A fight breaks out within and it seems to be revealed that one of the men in the DMZ is the brother of one soldier that walks in. ![]() The scene cuts and two men are sitting in a carnival, attempting to win a prize with one of those shooting games. A lady screams that a boy has robbed her. The two men go out into the street and shoot the kid with the toy guns causing him to wreck his motorcycle. They fix up the boy and call the 119 (911, but in Korea). Again, the scene cuts to the two men sitting at a table. One man, Yoo Shi Jin, receives a call and the other man tells him to refuse it. His offer for him to refuse the call is to give Yoo Shi Jin the number of his cousin, upon which he realizes the kid stole his phone. ![]() In the hospital, the kid is being examined and flees. Nurse Kang Mo Yeon notices him hobbling outside and chases him down. They bring him back in and he flees once again. At this point, Yoo Shi Jin and his friend enter the hospital to try and retrieve the phone. Nurse Mo Yeon denies access to the phone. The men leave the hospital and find the kid from the motorcycle accident beaten up in an alley by a gang. Seo Dae Young, Yoo Shi Jin's friend offers them money if they can take his wallet. The two proceed to beat up the entire gang. Back in the hospital, the two men bring the kid back in, beaten near to death. He is treated and Shi Jin falls in love with Mo Yeon. Their identity is confirmed by Yoon Myung Ju, a fellow classmate of Mo Yeon in school and the two men in their academy. Yoo Shi Jin asks the nurse to treat him for his gunshot wound that opened up during the fight with the gang. She stitches him up. The next day, Shi Jin returns to the hospital to get treated but sees Mo Yeon rushing a man that is bleeding to death into surgery. Kang Mo Yeon calls Shi Jin after the surgery and they agree to meet up.
Just before they are to meet up, there is a report on the news about two UN workers being abducted. Shi Jin receives a call and gives his location. He leaves for the roof and Mo Yeon calls him and meets him on the roof. He explains that he has to leave for a mission. Mo Yeon promises to go with him to a movie the next weekend. The scene then cuts to inside the helicopter. The men, all in their uniforms, tear their dog tags off and question why they are doing that. It is mentioned that when they die, their bodies need to remain unidentified. That's the end of the episode. I won't do this for every episode, but this seemed to be a very historical moment for k-dramas. What did you think of the pilot episode of Descendants of the Sun? Did you enjoy it or did you think it was cliché? Let me know in the comments section below. K-DRAMA EVERYDAY! Don't forget to follow me. If you haven't watched it yet, or are behind, proceed to a different page. *****SPOILERS***** Moorim School is a Korean drama that first aired early this year. It has been turning heads and grabbing attention of many netizens and fans everywhere. At first, it was considered to only be having 16 episodes, but as it turns out the show will continue on with 20 episodes. The drama follows two protagonists Yoon Shi Woo, a K-pop idol who has been suffering from hearing loss and Wang Chi Ang, the heir to a large Chinese company. Yoon Shi Woo is suffering from loss of hearing and decides to take some time off from being an idol. He performs one last concert where a light fixture falls, nearly killing him, but he is able to stop it and then is knocked out of the way by Hwang Seon Ah, a fangirl. She tells him about Moorim School. ![]() Trying to impress his father, Wang Chi Ang will do anything, however, one day he is kidnapped and forced to attend Moorim School. He tries to escape and falls off a cliff into water below and is rescued by Shim Soon Deok, a poor girl attending Moorim School against her father's wishes. Chi Ang agrees to go with Soon Deok to Moorim because he's fallen in love with her. Quickly things escalate because the idol, Shi Woo, whose concert Chi Ang's company sponsered, shows up. Chi Ang and Shi Woo show animosity towards one another and get in several fights. This leads to their expulsion from the school, unless they will travel to Moorim Peak and retrieve the school marking. ![]() The two travel up Moorim Peak and along the way become really close. They abandon their mission when Chi Ang, without a shoe, suffers from his foot bleeding and the pains from walking on it for days. They are both granted permission to stay at Moorim. However, midterms are right around the corner and Chi Ang and Shi Woo are determined to make it to the advanced level. They all do very well during their midterms, but they get poisoned while at a party thrown by the dean. They wake up in a locked cell and are informed that a fire will soon break out. They all attempt to flee but Yeop Jung leaves without them and locks their exit. They decidedly leave through a window and down the side of the building. They all make it back and Seon Ah comes in first place. All seems well at Moorim for a while until the school goes on a retreat into Seoul and Soon Deok is kidnapped being mistaken for Seon Ah. Chi Ang enters the building where Soon Deok is being held and fights off a group of people but gets slashed across the stomach. Seon Ah calls for help. Meanwhile, Soon Deok is being taken elsewhere and Shi Woo rescues her by driving a motorcycle into the kidnappers' car. Soon Deok stay with Chi Ang as he recovers and soon after they return to Moorim. Dean Hwang announces that there will be the Moorim Competition early this year and that it will include outsiders and Moorim alumni. That's where I'm going to conclude this k-drama update. Watch the episodes to get caught up and look out for the next 10 episodes. Episode 11 and 12 are already available with subs. Thanks for the support!

Kdramas are an important part of K culture, and therefore I use this section of my website to give my overview and review of certain Kdramas I have watched. I am really bad at keeping this segment up to date, but I try.
